Thanks everyone, I will be taking the stream servers offline now, which includes the ability to leave comments. In the future I can be contacted at marcok (dot) stephen (at) gmail (dot) com
Hi Byron, yes I will be keeping the instructions up on github: https://github.com/marcokstephen/BBCRadioDelay
Are you going to keep the instructions up after you shut down? You might want to consider the donation route... just saying.
Thanks Gary! I considered the donation route but figured it wouldn't be viable to rely on for the long term so decided not to. But I am glad to hear you got it set up with the github instructions!
I followed the instructions from github and was able to set up my own stream quite easily. So far I have Radio 2 with a test 1-hour delay, and it seems to be working.
Really sorry to hear you are shutting down. I understand, for expats it's a life changer! I for one would be happy to donate via paypal or whatever. Thanks again for the great service.
Sorry Byron! I definitely didn't want to, but I've been funding this as a hobby and it's about US$190/year for the servers which does add up. I'm glad you enjoyed using it.
Please tell us you’re not going to stop this amazing service!
Hi Amy! Sometimes the streams fall out of sync, but they resynchronise every Sunday automatically to fix this.
The Radio 2 Eastern (-5) stream seems to be 13-15 minutes ahead. Not sure about other streams. Will you be getting this fixed? Many thanks, love this service!
@Graham Sorry, I am not really sure about using these streams via devices. If it doesn't work I unfortunately don't have any troubleshooting suggestions.
@Jim, you would need the french stream to be accessible by a URL and be compatible with ffmpeg. You can check out the repository on github, the downloader file specifically is here (https://github.com/marcokstephen/BBCRadioDelay/blob/master/run-scripts/downloader.sh).
@John, thanks for your comment. The main issue is cost. More server streams require more CPU power, requires more money. Currently I pay US$15/month to host the servers, which is about as much as I want to budget for this pet project. In the future though I may look at selectively choosing certain streams and time zones to host per individual peoples' requests, as this is a fairly discrete project anyways without too many users. I'll email you in that case.
Hi I've tried adding the nz stream to my radio stations on the TuneIn function on the Sonos app but it doesn't seem to be able to play. Is there a way to play the streams through Sonos? Thanks
I was really hoping for this functionality to stream french radio to new zealand in sync with the time.zone. If I understand right, this would just need some fairly minor code adjustments right?
Please consider adding the rest of the time zones up to -23. I'm teaching Computer Science in Cambodia and would love to listen to (yesterday's) Radio 4 programmes at their 'normal' times. Date difference is less important than time difference, as Book at Bedtime really has to be at bedtime (not 3pm), and ± want to hear the Today programme whilst I'm crunching my (imported) Shredded Wheats. I get that this is a free service, and it's github so I can 'knit my own', but since you already have the feeds it makes sense to stream them at all time zone offsets. Love from GMT+7
BBC1 time shift was great. seems to have stopped working. please bring it back !

Hi Stephen, I just found your service as I was thinking how great such a thing would be. It is great - thanks so much. I wonder if you have any plans to create an Alexa skill or similar for other smart speakers? Thanks again!
@Rob: no, unfortunately they cannot be added
is their anyway to add your streams to the tunein app?
Finally life in the US is bareable!
@Sol: Thanks, not sure how that happened but it should be fixed with the server restart this past Sunday. @Charlie: Just added streams for NZ Standard time and NZ daylight time!
Bbc radio 2 eastern 5 is out of synch, playing 10.15am at 7.05am
This is a fantastic project! Do you have any plans to go as far as a 12 hour delay? -I live in New Zealand.
Stephen, this is wonderful! Thank you!
THANK YOU for doing this. I was searching for this, you have totally made my day!!! Listening in Ohio, ex-pat from Scotland. Loving it. Cheers.
Hello world.
